#DooGood with Scooby-Doo

Thank you to Warner Bros. for sponsoring this post. Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. Gang have teamed up with generationOn, the youth family division of Points of Light, to inspire, equip and mobilize kids, parents and Scooby-Doo fans to create meaningful change in their community.

Last week, we attended an event with Scooby-Doo to #DooGood for the community. Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. Gang, along with generationOn, are on a mission to get kids, parents and fans to #DooGood. For a while now, we’ve been trying to find ways to teach Zooey about giving back to the community so when we got invited to participate in this event, we said YES in a heartbeat! We attended as a family to support Zooey and we are pretty confident that she left understanding the benefits of helping the community, and how easy and fun it can be.  What we all learned today was that the best way to give back is to just start, no matter how small the cause. Scroll down to see what we did at the event.

We started off really early at Olive & Thyme to have breakfast and meet everyone taking part in the event.

The kids also got to know each other and familiarize themselves with Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc gang.

From there we jumped on the #DooGood Mystery Machine themed bus and headed to a secret location.

We found ourselves at Mid-City’s Prescott Elementary School, where Enrich LA was waiting to teach the kids about building a garden for the school. Zooey’s been learning about how plants grow at school so she was super excited to garden with the other kids.

The objective today was to build a garden of fruit trees. Zooey started off with the group that had to transfer the compost to wheelbarrows. We were so proud of her for jumping right in there with her garden gloves and not complaining at all!

Scooby-Doo was there and helped out too. The big kids then pushed the wheelbarrows down to the garden area, where other kids dug holes.

When Zooey got tired, she went down to the craft area where each family decorated their own planter.

After she was done, she went back to gardening and helped dig holes to put the fruit trees in.

We were seriously SO proud of Zooey because she got her hands dirty and contributed until the very end.

Zooey’s baby sister Amelie contributed a little bit too.

It was a long day in the sun but we all left feeling really great that we did something for the community. Zooey will always be able to look back and know that she helped the kids at this elementary school.

It’s really great how Warner Bros. is taking such a creative approach to encourage kids and their family to help with the community.
